I am a little confused because I read that setting targets is a behavioral approach. But I found a definition of como''una Locke and Latham Definition targeting cognitive theory of motivation that actually moves an individual to be productive.''
My question is: Can a sports psychologist who claims that a purely cognitive justify the setting of targets as a method?

The concept of setting targets and demonstrate the feasibility of such conduct would certainly fall within the cognitive domain.
And, yes, the sports psychologist used this technique with thousands of others in order to motivate their clients.
